When managing construction projects on small residential lots, efficiency and ROI are top priorities, especially in regions dominated by granite. A recent project in Sudbury Massachusetts highlights how using the Rockcrusher crusher bucket dramatically improved job performance and return on investment.

The contractor faced the usual challenge: the site was sitting on granite bedrock, so blasting was necessary. However, instead of incurring high costs by hauling the blasted material offsite and purchasing new base material, they turned to the RC 9R mounted on a CAT320. After blasting and hammering the rock, the crusher bucket resized the material into a usable base right on site. Due to site needs, the team used the Rockcrusher to create two differently sized rock. The Rockcrusher attachment's easy output size adjustment has a range of 0.5" up to 5", giving crews flexibility to decide what size is best for the project.

By crushing the rock directly onsite, the contractor eliminated the need for expensive hauling and avoided the cost of importing stone. Not only did this result in significant cost savings, but it also reduced project downtime. The ability to create consistent, compactable base material meant the job moved forward quickly, and any excess rock could be sold for additional profit.

For construction managers, keeping material on site with the Rockcrusher isn’t just a convenience—it’s a proven strategy for maximizing ROI by reducing both material and labor costs while keeping projects on schedule.
